AIRNESCO Group Ltd FERRET series cleaning equipment

SYSTEM

  • Based on our knowledge and experience in the industrial industry, we have also developed a range of weapon maintenance solutions for the defense and aerospace industries.

  • The pneumatically driven cleaning system is suitable for both smooth and grooved pipes and launchers with a caliber greater than 20 mm. The system is compact, easy to assemble and almost maintenance-free. The system consists of various brushes and all the necessary accessories for the maintenance of the weapon. The equipment is packed in a single hard case or soft bag depending on the application requirements.

    This system was designed to meet three main requirements:

  • Removal of combustion deposits;

  • Removal of lubricants;

  • Applying oil to the cleaned surface;

    Fast and efficient control allows a single operator to clear a large-caliber weapon system in less than five minutes.

The system was tested and evaluated with the UK Ministry of Defense in the late 1990s. Until 2000 The Airnesco BCS was adopted for use by both the Royal Navy and the British Army; Since then, the system has been used worldwide in both exercises and live operations.

SYSTEM OPERATION

The system demonstration video demonstrates how it works and the equipment included in a typical BCS kit. A typical kit would consist of four types of brushes to meet all the barrel maintenance requirements of a modern gun platform, and a special "custom" solution can be provided to meet your specific requirements.

The system is operated by a single operator and can be quickly assembled and disassembled using quick-disconnect connectors.

The brush is attached to the Ferret motor and controlled by a foot valve; air is supplied through a foot valve through a filter lubricator. The Ferret motor is then placed in the opening to be cleaned. It moves along the cylinder, and when it reaches the other end, the brush's course changes and it automatically goes back through the cylinder. Average cycle time is one minute for double the distance.

The video above is a great example of the evolution of the equipment, showing our early brush and aluminum cases to our current brush and soft case storage solutions. These kits now come standard with the ever popular DEFStan Peli case; the soft case flip shown here is often chosen for applications with the highest storage requirements.

As materials and production technologies improve over time, so do our production methods; Although our system has proven to be reliable over the years, we strive to improve our product range with these technological advances.
